Taking Stormwater Management to New Heights at Orlando's Airports

E Sciences is currently working with Nodarse & Associates and the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) to update the Authority's Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).

GOAA is responsible for managing operations at Orlando International Airport in southeastern Orlando and the Orlando Executive Airport located just minutes east of the downtown skyline. Even in this urban setting, our field crews have encountered some interesting wildlife, including this gator (right) who was seen napping peacefully in a stormwater pond adjacent to the busy SR 408/East-West Expressway.

E Sciences has visited all of the tenant hangars at both airports to ensure that environmental regulations are being followed in preventing stormwater pollution. Each tenant is required to maintain a materials inventory of all chemicals stored on site that have the potential of coming into contact with rainfall, in turn causing adverse effects to the stormwater system.  Best Management Practices (BMPs) are in place to safely store chemicals on the airport properties, and standard operating procedures have been developed to guide owners and responders during the unlikely event of a spill.  The SWPPP documents these BMPs so that every tenant can easily follow and practice safe operation and maintenance at the airport facilities.

E Sciences looks forward to continuing our work with GOAA and other clients to ensure stormwater quality and environmental compliance.
