E Sciences Team Competes in the Great Toy Build-Off at Orlando Science Center
The E Sciences/Orlando Engineering Department were among the teams competing in The Great Toy Build-Off at The Orlando Regional History Center. Robert Potts, Leilani Hoopper and Kristina Daugherty participated in building a road...the I-4 Interchange, to be exact.
This event was sponsored by the History Center to kick off their new "Kids Stuff" exhibit featuring classic toys from yesteryear. Teams competed to design architectural objects using Erector Sets, Lincoln Logs, Legos, or Tinker Toys. Each team was randomly assigned one toy category on the day of the event and had four hours to design and build their creation. Judges from local engineering firms chose the winners based on originality, resourcefulness, and practicality.
The E Sciences team came in second in our division. (We aren’t telling anyone that there were only two teams in our category.)
