FDOT District 4 - Districtwide Implementation and Maintenance of NPDES Permits

E Sciences has been selected by District 4 of the Florida Department of Transportation to provide environmental consulting services under a five-year contract to provide Districtwide Implementation and Maintenance of NPDES Permits.

NPDES, or the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, was established as part of the federal Clean Water Act of 1972. Its aim is to improve water quality by regulating point sources of pollution such as industrial facilities and agricultural operations and non-point sources such as stormwater from construction sites and municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s). In Florida, the NPDES program is administered by the Department of Environmental Protection.

To maintain compliance with the NPDES MS4 permits issued for its roadway stormwater systems, the FDOT must conduct regular inspections of its stormwater treatment facilities and maintenance yards, update its inventory (database) as new MS4 systems come online, and provide annual reports of these and other related activities. E Sciences will be assisting District 4 with implementing and maintaining its NPDES contracts.
